Terry Holderness has been a police officer for over 35 years and has been Chief in Ashland since April of 2007. Prior to coming to Ashland he worked for three California Police Agencies. The last 25 years of his career in California was with the Fontana Police Department. While at Fontana he worked almost every position in the department from patrol officer to division commander. He had seventeen years experience as a police manager with management experience in patrol, investigations, administration and special operations. Chief Holderness has a Bachelors degree in Criminal Justice, a Masters in Education and is a graduate of the Senior Management Institute for Police and the California Command College. He is a nationally recognized expert in Community and Problem Oriented Policing and has written several articles and spoken at numerous national and international conferences on those subjects.
